Tiles wear the Lisbon facades everywhere. There are in different sizes, motifs and colours. As technically as a raport the design of a continuous textile is made, the facades covered with tiles are composed by the repetition of a standard tile, pattern or module. That is to say, the drawing of a tile, of definite proportions, is repeated in all directions in order to complete a large surface. Thus, starting from the design of a module, an amplified drawing is generated and its dimensional possibilities are presented without a predetermined purpose. Having photographed facades coated with tiles in the streets of Lisbon, a great number of designs were registered. This photographic record, of coated facades, is the object of this study, in which various aspects related to the continuity of a module -a fundamental issue in the textile language- was analyzed. The characteristics of the motifs and the relationship between colours have been observed specifically. From the motifs: have been observed the proportions maintained by the drawings with the module, the types of motifs -if there is any parameter to encase them-, and possible associative connotations. From the colours: have been detailed the quantities, the interrelations of the tones, and the colour relations between the figures and the backgrounds. The aim of this analysis was to highlight, on the one hand, the similarity of the language of repetition and continuity, of the tiles with the textile, and, on the other hand, it has been to provide a singular view of facades lined with motifs and colors of the Lisbon city.

Los azulejos visten las fachadas de Lisboa por doquier. Los hay de distintos tamaños, motivos y colores. Tal como técnicamente mediante un raport se efectúa el diseño de un textil continuo, las fachadas revestidas de azulejos se componen de la repetición de un azulejo patrón. O sea, el dibujo de un azulejo, de proporciones definidas, se repite en todas las direcciones para llegar a completar a una gran superficie. Así, partiendo del diseño de un módulo, se genera un dibujo amplificado y sus posibilidades dimensionales se presentan sin un fin predeterminado. Habiendo fotografiado fachadas revestidas de azulejos en las calles de Lisboa, fueron registrados una gran cantidad de diseños. Este registro fotográfico, de fachadas revestidas, es el objeto de este estudio, en el cual se analizaron diversos aspectos relacionados con la continuidad de un módulo, cuestión fundamental en el lenguaje textil. Específicamente se han observado las características de los motivos y la relación entre los colores. De los motivos se han observado las proporciones que mantienen los dibujos con el módulo, los tipos de motivos –si existe algún parámetro para encasillarlos-, y posibles connotaciones asociativas. De los colores se han detallado las cantidades, las relaciones de los tonos entre sí, y la relación de los colores entre las figuras y los fondos. El objetivo de este análisis ha sido destacar, por un lado la similitud del lenguaje de repetición y continuidad, de los azulejos con el textil, y por el otro lado ha sido brindar una observación singular de las fachadas revestidas con motivos y colores de la ciudad de Lisboa.
