Since 2015, João Pernão has assumed, with Professor José Aguiar, the teaching of the curricular unit "COLOR DESIGN AND REHABILITATION OF ARCHITECTURAL SURFACES" at the PhD course in Architecture.  In 2016 João Pernão created the curricular unit  "LIGHT, COLOUR AND MATTER" for both the PhD in Architecture and the PhD in Design.

The MEDCROMA lab is an important technical support for these curricular units and for the devepment of the field work in the dissertation's research.

This activity brought a new interest in the area of Light and Colour at the PhD level, which resulted in the orientation of several doctoral dissertations:
